Johannesburg, South Africa

Take off from Reunion Island, and fly direct to South Africa!

From Reunion Island's Roland Garros airport, fly direct to the rainbow nation of South Africa! Its endless array of colourful landscapes, cultures and traditions will ensure a truly authentic and unforgettable experience!
With its 4.5 million inhabitants, Johannesburg is an ideal gateway to South Africa from Reunion Island. For a face-to-face encounter with some of the country's emblematic big cats, why not be tempted by a photo safari in one of South Africa's many parks. The Kruger National Park, for example, covers 20,000 km², making it the largest wildlife reserve in South Africa.

For the more energetic among you, the country also boasts stunning terrain for trekking and hiking - the Drakensberg Mountains are one of the must-see landscapes in South Africa. Why not also take in the rugged coastline and seaside towns on a trip down south between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, home of the famous ‘Garden Route’? An itinerary to fall in love with!

Known to friends as ‘Joburg’, the country’s economic and cultural centre is a huge city (twice the size of New York!) that should mainly be visited by car. It is worth being careful here, but Johannesburg and its range of contrasting and varied neighbourhoods are still worth a few days' visit.

The city has a quite turbulent history (in particular the Soweto ghetto, the world’s most famous township), and a visit will give you a better understanding of South Africa, both past and future. Although Johannesburg is a lively and vibrant city, it is firmly anchored in the present - there are countless events, trendy shops and gourmet addresses, sure to keep the more epicurean among you happy.
